We are pleased to announce a Special Session on “AI and Intelligent Digital Technologies in Education” at ICIR 2026 – IEEE 5th International Conference on Intelligent Reality, which will take place in Pisa, Italy, on June 25–26, 2026.
The session will be chaired by Lucia Billeci, Giuseppe Città, and Maria Chiara Demartini.
As Intelligent Reality continues to transform the interaction between humans and machines, the education sector is becoming one of the most dynamic fields for innovation. Technologies such as AI-driven adaptive learning systems, immersive AR/VR environments, digital twins, learning analytics, and intelligent tutoring systems are opening new possibilities for personalized, data-driven, and engaging learning experiences.
We invite researchers, practitioners, and industry professionals to contribute by:
• Submitting papers to the Special Session
• Contributing research to the main conference tracks
• Sharing case studies, experimental results, and interdisciplinary perspectives
• Proposing demonstrations and innovative applications
This Special Session aims to stimulate discussion on how AI-powered and intelligent digital ecosystems can support educators, personalize learning pathways, and foster more inclusive and effective educational environments.
ICIR 2026 will bring together an international community working at the intersection of AI, immersive technologies, and human–machine collaboration, all in the inspiring setting of Pisa.
