About the consortium
The DIGI-ME project brings together a consortium of eight leading partners from Italy, France and Finland, including three HEIs, a technology park, a research and excellence center, a venture capital firm, and two innovative SMEs.
The University of Pavia (UNIPV) is one of the world’s oldest academic institutions: it was founded in 1361 and until the 20th century it was the only university in the Milan Area and the region of Lombardy. Today it is a comprehensive university, which covers all subject areas - Science and Technology, Engineering, Life Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences - and is composed of 18 Departments offering study programmes at all levels, from Bachelor’s degrees to Doctorate programmes.
The academic staff counts more than 900 professors and researchers. 24,000 students, from both Italy and overseas, study at the University of Pavia. The University of Pavia participates in more than 400 international agreements with universities all over the world, and it collaborates in research projects with the most advanced international laboratories and organizes Masters and PhD research programs.
Created in 1984, Grenoble Ecole de Management (EESC GEM) is a Research and Higher Education institution of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Grenoble with campuses in both Grenoble and Paris.
As a Consular School of Higher Education (EESC) affiliated with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Grenoble, EESC GEM is a Société à mission (Equivalent to a US Benefit corporation: type of for-profit corporate entity, authorized by thirty U.S. states and the District of Columbia, that includes positive impact on society, workers, the community, and the environment—in addition to profit—as its legally defined goals. Benefit corporations differ from traditional C corporations in purpose, accountability, and transparency, but not in taxation) and a founding member of the campus of innovation in Grenoble known as GIANT (Grenoble Innovation for Advanced New Technologies).
The University of Vaasa (UNIVAASA) was founded in 1968 as a private business school. By 2004, the school had been established as a state-funded multi-disciplinary university with four faculties. The University’s school-based structure that came into effect in 2018, comprises the following four schools: School of Management, School of Marketing and Communication, School of Accounting and Finance, and the School of Technology and Innovations.
Today, there are 4095 FTE students, 368 teaching and research faculty, and 216 professional support staff. In its current structure, the University specializes in business studies, technology, communication and public administration in order to strengthen its national and international profile.
The Italian National Research Council is the main public research organization of Italy, whose aim is to perform, promote, spread, transfer and improve research activities in the main sectors of knowledge. The CNR consists of about 100 different research institutes that span from human sciences to engineering sciences. CNR participates in the project with two units: the Institute of Clinical Physiology (CNR-IFC) and the Institute for Educational Technology (CNR-ITD). It serves as the excellence research center of the DIGI-ME consortium, with ca. 165,000 scientific publications over the last ten years and several patents in the digital field.
Kilometro Rosso SPA is a science and technology park located in the Lombardy region of Italy. It is a large research and innovation center that hosts a wide range of companies, institutions, and organizations involved in various fields of science and technology.

LEF is the largest and most integrated digital model company in the world. Obloo is a Venture Capital operator managing deeptech early stage funds in Italy, focussing on tech transfer from the research lab to the market often promoting pre-seed investments even before the company is incorporated. Obloo boasts a unique investor team composed of senior professionals holding a PhD in scientific disciplines, including engineering, physics, chemistry, biomedicine.
